Bois D'Amour (love of wood) has selected the Ancient Mariner range of hand made and crafted furniture. Ancient Mariner is a family business with over 40 years experience in the furniture trade and understand that quality really counts. Sourcing from Indonesia All of the furniture is made using traditional village techniques, which put simply means no large-scale factory production, giving local people employment, and ensuring continuation of the long tradition of highly skilled craftsmen and women. As with all cottage industries there are variations in the way each piece is made, as well as colour and grain differences. Highly skilled professionals oversee construction, therefore, we offer unique but constant quality in both colour and the polishing process. In short the furniture is village made, but with the consistency of factory produced goods. Many of the Mahogany items express the commitment to quality with a brass plaque and a scroll guaranteeing the authentic history. Character with age As with any natural item, the distinctive character of Ancient Mariner furniture will only improve with age. During the making process each piece has been purposefully 'aged' to add even more character. NO attempt is made to hide irregularities, in fact we think that is what gives each piece of furniture distinctive character and charm. NO effort has been spared in construction, finish and distressing. Every care is taken to ensure all timber is from managed sources. Antique furniture wax will further add to the character of your classic piece. |
